Plantsman Garden Design
This large country garden in Wales near Usk once belonged to an old farmhouse. It now perches at the top of the valley alongside a modern house with outstanding views across wales.
The clients are avid plant enthusiasts and were very keen to incorporate more planting wherever possible. Therefore planting has been woven in between large flagstone stepping stones that eventually lead to a levelled lawn area, with multiple new perennial style borders that break up the space and create more of a journey throughout.
A meandering pathway steps up the side of the valley garden, stepping through succulent and colourful planting, resembling that of the Cornish coast. The garden currently exhibits temperate planting that thrives happily in this part of Wales.
An existing series of pergolas currently lead to a traditional summerhouse. To allow the garden to sit comfortably with it’s now more modern home, this has been replaced with an ever decreasing series of Pergolas, which then provide a comfortable space to sit out under and look over the valley.
